about

VA 002 - Vol B

She’s filled with nostalgia when she thinks about last year’s parties. Alone in the apartment, holding the screen in front of her eyes, she looks for a counter-image, some dream that could compensate for the gray and sober routine. The nostalgic feeling is associated with low frequency sound emissions. It’s a work of mourning, a symptom of the new conformism. Everything that was experienced - the crowded streets, the collective sweating, the feeling of belonging - composes the scene of a past that seems to be unable to return. She misses what could have been and attributes a fragile sense (and even some glory) to a trajectory that at bottom is irrevocably arbitrary. For a brief moment and against all odds, it was as if they were going to take over the world. She hardly knew that the mutation process was already underway. The minimal movement of the dances prepared the new terrain. Finally, all dance was abolished and now we are coming to the next stage. Radical acceptance of the present.

Goma Rec VA 002 A/B presents part of the prolific production of contemporary electronic dance music, bringing together 37 tracks by emerging producers, mostly Brazilian. Divided into 2 volumes, the compilation will be released on July 6 and 13, with distribution via Bandcamp.

A call made during the quarantine by the group of artists/independent label Goma Rec, based in Porto Alegre, Brazil, gave rise to the project, which comes at a critical moment for the “scene”. The halting of agglomerations brings the need for reinvention of the sector’s entire production chain, which is now looking for alternative ways of generating income.

While volume A presents a deep house-oriented selection, volume B explores a wider variety of genres, with more openness to experimentation.
